Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that the Lamanites were driven out of the land after much bloodshed, and there was peace established.  The people observed to keep the commandments of the Lord. Alma 30:1-5 "Behold, now it came to pass that after the people of Ammon were established in the land of Jershon, yea, and also after the Lamanites were driven out of the land, and their dead were buried by the people of the land—  Now their dead were not numbered because of the greatness of their numbers; neither were the dead of the Nephites numbered—but it came to pass after they had buried their dead, and also after the days of fasting, and mourning, and prayer, (and it was in the sixteenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi) there began to be continual peace throughout all the land.  Yea, and the people did observe to keep the commandments of the Lord; and they were strict in observing the ordinances of God, according to the law of Moses; for they were taught to keep the law of Moses until it should be fulfilled.  And thus the people did have no disturbance in all the sixteenth year of the reign of the judges over the people of Nephi.  And it came to pass that in the commencement of the seventeenth year of the reign of the judges, there was continual peace."

In the New Testament we read that when Jesus was asked who was the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven, He said it was a little child.  Indeed, unless we humble ourselves and become as teachable as a child, we won't enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.  Matthew 18:1-4 "At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,  And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.  Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that for everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. I love summer and ever since I was a child I dreaded the approach of autumn.  I hated having to go back to school and missing out on those lazy summer days.  As an adult I dreaded the cold showy days that were soon to come, driving on slick roads and shoveling icy driveways. But I think instead of wishing for he seasons to quickly pass so we can get back to summer's warmth, we need to savor every season and enjoy every day to the best of our ability.  Life is too short to wish it away and every season has its purpose.  Ecclesiastes 3:1 "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:"
