In the Book of Mormon we read that Korihor went to the land of Jershon to preach his false doctrine to the people of Ammon, but they were more wise than the Nephites and they took him, bound him, and brought him before Ammon who kicked him out of the land. Then he went to the land of Gideon where he was carried before the high priest who was also the chief judge. Alma 30:19-21 "Now this man went over to the land of Jershon also, to preach these things among the people of Ammon, who were once the people of the Lamanites. But behold they were more wise than many of the Nephites; for they took him, and bound him, and carried him before Ammon, who was a high priest over that people. And it came to pass that he caused that he should be carried out of the land. And he came over into the land of Gideon, and began to preach unto them also; and here he did not have much success, for he was taken and bound and carried before the high priest, and also the chief judge over the land."
In the New Testament we read about how someone saying they won't obey but then changing their mind and obeying is better than someone who claims they'll obey but then doesn't do it. A sinful person who repents and then keeps the commandments is better than someone who claims to be righteous but then doesn't do what they say they'll do. We need to make sure our hearts are in the right place, not just our words. Matthew 21:28-32 "But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard. He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that even though Joseph was sold into slavery, the Lord blessed and prospered him even under those circumstances. Here he was a slave with no rights or standing, trapped in a foreign land. But God did not abandon him. And He will not abandon us, no matter what may come our way. Genesis 39:2-6 "And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. And his master saw that the Lord was with him, and that the Lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand. And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph's sake; and the blessing of the Lord was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field. And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured."
