Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that after the king was stabbed his servants fled, so Amalickiah's men started a rumor that it was the king's servants who had stabbed him. Amalickiah pretended to be angry about the king's death and called forth all those who loved the king to pursue after the servants who had supposedly killed him. When the servants saw an army after them they ran away and joined the Nephites. Amalickiah, by his fraud, had gained the hearts of the people.  Alma 47:25-30 "Now the servants of the king fled; and the servants of Amalickiah raised a cry, saying:  Behold, the servants of the king have stabbed him to the heart, and he has fallen and they have fled; behold, come and see.  And it came to pass that Amalickiah commanded that his armies should march forth and see what had happened to the king; and when they had come to the spot, and found the king lying in his gore, Amalickiah pretended to be wroth, and said: Whosoever loved the king, let him go forth, and pursue his servants that they may be slain.  And it came to pass that all they who loved the king, when they heard these words, came forth and pursued after the servants of the king.  Now when the servants of the king saw an army pursuing after them, they were frightened again, and fled into the wilderness, and came over into the land of Zarahemla and joined the people of Ammon. And the army which pursued after them returned, having pursued after them in vain; and thus Amalickiah, by his fraud, gained the hearts of the people."

In the New Testament we read that the righteous will be blessed and the wicked will be punished.  We are not to judge other people, especially when we are guilty of doing the very things that we judge other people for doing.  Romans 2:1-11 "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.  And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?  But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:  But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,  Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:  For there is no respect of persons with God."

A verse with a thought booklet is one that we could all do well to memorize.  Whenever we're faced with a difficult task, we need to remember that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.  We just need to remember to turn to Him for help.  Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
