In the Book of Mormon we read a just man kept the records and we know that his records are true. He did many miracles in the name of Jesus. He wrote that many people looked for the signs that Samuel the Lamanite had prophesied about, where there would be three days of darkness, but other people doubted. So there were any disputations among the people regarding this matter. 3 Nephi 8:1-4 "And now it came to pass that according to our record, and we know our record to be true, for behold, it was a just man who did keep the record—for he truly did many miracles in the name of Jesus; and there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity— And now it came to pass, if there was no mistake made by this man in the reckoning of our time, the thirty and third year had passed away; And the people began to look with great earnestness for the sign which had been given by the prophet Samuel, the Lamanite, yea, for the time that there should be darkness for the space of three days over the face of the land. And there began to be great doubtings and disputations among the people, notwithstanding so many signs had been given."
In the Old Testament we read that the Lord told Moses to take a census of the entire Israelites community, of every male 20 years old and above, who was eligible for military service in Israel. Numbers 1:1-4 "And the Lord spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying, Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls; From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies. And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us not to be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord our God will be with us wherever we go. Sometimes we worry about the future and because stressed out and panicky over all the "what ifs" it might bring. We don't know what will happen in the future. But this we do know: that no matter what happens, the Lord will be with us. And trusting in Him, we can indeed face the future with hope instead of fear. Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest."
