Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that Moroni was forbidden to write the names of the three Nephites, but testified that he had seen them and they had ministered unto him. They have ministered among Jews and Gentiles who have not known them. Great and marvelous works will be wrought by them before the judgment day.  3 Nephi 28:25-32 "Behold, I was about to write the names of those who were never to taste of death, but the Lord forbade; therefore I write them not, for they are hid from the world.  But behold, I have seen them, and they have ministered unto me.  And behold they will be among the Gentiles, and the Gentiles shall know them not.  They will also be among the Jews, and the Jews shall know them not.  And it shall come to pass, when the Lord seeth fit in his wisdom that they shall minister unto all the scattered tribes of Israel, and unto all nations, kindreds, tongues and people, and shall bring out of them unto Jesus many souls, that their desire may be fulfilled, and also because of the convincing power of God which is in them.  And they are as the angels of God, and if they shall pray unto the Father in the name of Jesus they can show themselves unto whatsoever man it seemeth them good.  Therefore, great and marvelous works shall be wrought by them, before the great and coming day when all people must surely stand before the judgment-seat of Christ;  Yea even among the Gentiles shall there be a great and marvelous work wrought by them, before that judgment day."

In the Old Testament we read about how the Lord gave the city of Jerico to the Israelites by having them blow trumpets and shout--and the walls came tumbling down.  Even when a task looks impossible, with the Lord help, it can be accomplished.  Joshua 6:15-21 "And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.  And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city. And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the Lord: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.  And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.  But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.  So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.  And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us, surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, we need to throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us.  We need to run with perseverance the race that is marked out for us, keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 12:1-2 "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
