Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament it says that the Lord hears and answers our prayers and is near to those who call upon Him. He preserves those who love Him and fulfills their desires. Ps. 145: 18-20 "The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The Lord preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy."

In the Book of Mormon I read that just because we have a Bible we don't need to suppose that it contains all the Word of God and that no more should be written. God speaks to all men in different lands. 2 Ne. 29: 10-11 "Wherefore, because that ye have a Bible ye need not suppose that it contains all my words; neither need ye suppose that I have not caused more to be written. For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them; for out of the books which shall be written I will judge the world, every man according to their works, according to that which is written."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that we can call upon God when we feel distressed or problems surround us, and He will hear us and give us strength. We need to put our trust in Him. Ps. 18: 2-6 "The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears."
