In the Old Testament it says we should not be weary of the chastening of the Lord because he corrects those He loves, just as a father chastens a child he loves. Prov. 3: 11-12 "My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction: For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth."
In the Book of Mormon I read a verse that the judgments of God will come up against those who break the hearts of their wives and children, causing them to sob and lift up their voices to God. Those who pierce the hearts of their wives and children with deep wounds will have to answer to God. Jacob 2: 35 "Behold, ye have done greater iniquities than the Lamanites, our brethren. Ye have broken the hearts of your tender wives, and lost the confidence of your children, because of your bad examples before them; and the sobbings of their hearts ascend up to God against you. And because of the strictness of the word of God, which cometh down against you, many hearts died, pierced with deep wounds."
I read a comforting verse with a thought booklet telling us that when we're laboring under heavy burdens, we can come to Christ and He will give us rest. We don't need to struggle alone with our problems and trials--all we need to do is come unto Him and He will help us. Matt. 11: 28 "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
