In the Old Testament we're told not to withhold doing goood to others when it's in our power to do it. Prov. 3: 27 "Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it."
In the Book of Mormon I read a verse that tells us that prophets testified of Jesus Christ many hundreds of years before He was born, and they wrote about Him with the intent to teach others the hope of His glory. Jacob 4: 4 "For, for this intent have we written these things, that they may know that we knew of Christ, and we had a hope of his glory many hundred years before his coming; and not only we ourselves had a hope of his glory, but also all the holy prophets which were before us."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the temptations that come into our life are no different that what others experience. But God is faithful and will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that we can't stand up against it. In other words, no temptation will be given to us that we can't resist if we really want to, and are willing to allow the Lord to help us overcome. That throw all our excuses out the window. Things like "The devil made me do it" or "Nobody could have resisted that!" just don't hold water. 1 Cor. 10: 13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
