Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament it says that those who embrace immoral women go down to hell. Prov. 5: 3-5 "For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell."

In the Book of Mormon I read how the Lord likened the House of Isreal to a tame olive tree which waxed old and began to decay. However, instead of giving up on it, the master of the vineyard pruned it, dug about it, and nourished it to try to prevent it from perishing. The Lord likewise shows much patience with us, giving us every opportunity to repent and turn to Him. Jacob 5: 3-5 "For behold, thus saith the Lord, I will liken thee, O house of Israel, like unto a tame olive-tree, which a man took and nourished in his vineyard; and it grew, and waxed old, and began to decay. And it came to pass that the master of the vineyard went forth, and he saw that his olive-tree began to decay; and he said: I will prune it, and dig about it, and nourish it, that perhaps it may shoot forth young and tender branches, and it perish not. And it came to pass that he pruned it, and digged about it, and nourished it according to his word."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord is our light and our salvation and will give us strength. So we have no need to be afraid. Ps. 27: 1 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?"
