Daily Thoughts

n the Old Testament I read that the day will come when every good thing the Lord has promised to the House of Israel and the House of Judah will be fulfilled. The Lord keeps His promises. We can count on that. Jer. 33: 14 "Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah."

In the Book of Mormon I read that any nation that upholds secret combinations to get power and gain will be destroyed. The Lord won't allow the blood of His saints to always cry unto Him from the ground for vengeance without avenging them. Ether 8: 22 "And whatsoever nation shall uphold such secret combinations, to get power and gain, until they shall spread over the nation, behold, they shall be destroyed; for the Lord will not suffer that the blood of his saints, which shall be shed by them, shall always cry unto him from the ground for vengeance upon them and yet he avenge them not."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that we should consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds because we can know that the testing of our faith develops patience. When I'm going through trials, I have a hard time finding joy in them, but as I look back on trials of the past, I can see how they've made me a stronger person and they've helped me learn to rely on the Lord to help me get through them. James 1: 2-3 "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience."
