In the Old Testament I read that every man should speak the truth to his neighbor and execute the judgment of truth and peace. No one should imagine evil in their hearts against their neighbor. The Lord hates these things. Zech. 8: 16-17 "These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord."
In the Pearl of Great Price we're told that the work and glory of God is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. What great love He has for each of us! Moses 1: 39 "For behold, this is my work and my glory—to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that when we're kind to the poor, it's like lending to the Lord and He will reward us for what we have done. Prov. 19: 17 "He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again."
