Daily Thoughts

In the Old Testament I read a prophecy regarding Jesus Christ--how He would would be just and bring salvation and how He would be lowly and come riding upon an ass. Keep in mind that these prophecies were made hundreds of years before Jesus was born, in yet they were fulfilled in every detail. Zech. 9: 9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

In the Pearl of Great Price we read that after the Lord created the heavens and the earth, He rested from all His work on the seventh day. If having a Sabbath Day of rest was important, even for the Lord, how important is it for us? Moses 3: 1-3 "Thus the heaven and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day I, God, ended my work, and all things which I had made; and I rested on the seventh day from all my work, and all things which I had made were finished, and I, God, saw that they were good; And I, God, blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it; because that in it I had rested from all my work which I, God, had created and made."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that we will be rewarded for our work as we trust in the Lord. We can take refuge under the wings of His care. What a comforting thing to picture in our minds. Ruth 2: 12 "The Lord recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust."
