Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read about how Nephi was commanded to make two sets of records. He did not know the reason for this, but trusted that the Lord had a wise purpose in doing so. He knew that the Lord knows all things from the beginning and prepares the way for His work to be accomplished. When we're commanded to do something, do we willingly obey, even if it doesn't make any sense to us or we don't understand the reasons behind it? The Lord knows all things and He has wise purposes behind everything He asks us to do. We need to show our faith and trust in Him enough to obey Him--even when we don't know the reasons why. 1 Ne. 9: 5-6 "Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not. But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all his words. And thus it is. Amen."

In the New Testament I read that Jesus rose up in the morning and went to a solitary place to pray. Even Jesus needed to recharge his spiritual batteries by going to someplace peaceful where he could be alone to pray. We likewise need to take time each day to have some alone time with God, even if it means getting up early before other people are awake. Mark 1:35 "And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that the Lord will help us up when we fall and come to our aid when we're bowed down. Whatever we're struggling with, we can turn to the Lord for help. In spite of everything that happens in our lives, God will always be with us. He knows who we are, loves us, and is ready to listen to us, guide us, and provide us with comfort. What a blessing! Psalms 145:14 "The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down."
