Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon said he read to the people from the Books of Moses and from the writings of Isaiah for their profit and learning and to persuade them to believe in the Lord. Reading the scriptures and likening them unto us will help us to draw closer to the Lord and gain the strength and guidance we need to follow Him. 1 Ne. 19: 23 "And I did read many things unto them which were written in the books of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet Isaiah; for I did liken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our profit and learning."

In the New Testament I read that at the crucifixion of Jesus, He was concerned about His mother Mary. He knew that He was not going to be around anymore to take care of her, so He asked His disciple to do so. The disciple took Mary into his own home to care for her from that day forward. This incident shows the great love and compassion that Jesus had for His mother, in making sure she was taken care of. John 19:26-27 "When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Ghost. Love is a gift of the Spirit. And as we show our love for others through our thoughts, words and actions, we bring the love of God to life. Romans 5:5 "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
