Daily Thoughts

A verse in the Book of Mormon gives us a profound truth--that there is no peace unto the wicked. We may think we're happy when we're sinning, but this is just temporary. In the end, we will have no peace when our lives are not taking the path they should. 1 Ne. 20: 22 "And notwithstanding he hath done all this, and greater also, there is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked."

In the New Testament I read about how Jesus was taken up into Heaven while His disciples watched. Two men in white apparel told them that in the same manner they saw Him go into Heaven, so would He return to earth someday. Jesus will come again! Acts 1:9-11 "And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell parables about lost things and the joy in finding them. The Lord likewise rejoices when a lost sinner repents and turns unto Him. He cares about the lost and seeks after them. He delights in answering prayers. He loves us so much that He wants to find us when we go astray. Whenever we're feeling far from Him, we need to remember that He is waiting with open arms to accept us back, wanting us to come unto Him. He can save our lost souls. Luke 15:3-10 "And he spake this parable unto them, saying, What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost. Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."
