In the Book of Mormon we're told that the righteous will be rewarded and the wicked punished, according to their doings. 2 Ne. 13: 10-11 "Say unto the righteous that it is well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings. Wo unto the wicked, for they shall perish; for the reward of their hands shall be upon them!"
In the New Testament a read I verse that counteracts the old saying, "The devil made me do it!" The devil can't make us do anything! All men have temptations placed before them. But God will never allow us to be tempted beyond what we're able to bear. With every temptation, we'll be given a way to escape, if we're willing to take it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 "There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that we need to put the Lord first in our lives, loving Him more than anyone else, and being willing to lose our lives in His service. Matthew 10:37-39 "He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."
