In the Book of Mormon I read a prophetic verse about the Messiah being born. 2 Ne. 19: 6 "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
In the New Testament we read that eventhough we may be troubled on every side, we don't need to be distressed or in dispair. Even though we may be persecuted and cast down, we are not forsaken or destroyed. As long as we have the Lord with us, we can get through anything! 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 "We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;"
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that it's not enough to just say we love others, we need to show our love by our actions. If we see someone in need and turn our backs o them instead of showing compassion and trying to help them, the love of God does not dwell in us. 1 John 3:17-18 "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth."
