Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that we need to seek unto God for revelation, not to qizards or those who have familiar spirits. 2 Ne. 18: 19 "And when they shall say unto you: Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep and mutter—should not a people seek unto their God for the living to hear from the dead?"

In the New Testament we're told to forgive and comfort others, lest they be swallowed up with much sorrow. We need to do whatever we can to show love and compassion toward others, even those who might have offended us. 2 Corinthians 2:7 "So that contrariwise ye ought rather to aforgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet reiterate the commandment that we should love one another, as Jesus loved us. He laid down His life for His friends, which is the greatest love a person could show. How much love do we show others? Perhaps we'll gladly give our time to a friend (as long as we're not too busy). We'll be happy to help them out with money (as long as it's not very much). And of course we'll be willing to give them our attention (as long as we're not preoccupied with something else or have something better to do). Does that kind of "love" even come close to what the Savior offered us? John 15:12-13, 17 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. These things I command you, that ye love one another."
