Oops! I goofed. Yesterday I mistakenly sent out the Daily Thoughts for Friday again. This was the one meant for yesterday. Sorry!
In the Book of Mormon I read a prophecy about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and how it, along with the Bible, would be used to confound false doctrine and bring knowledge in the latter days. 2 Ne. 3: 12 "Wherefore, the fruit of thy loins shall write; and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to the knowledge of their fathers in the latter days, and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord."
In the New Testament I read we are the offspring of God and as such, in Him we live and move and have our being. How silly to worship idols made of gold of silver or that are graven by men. If we're the offspring of God, how could God be made of manmade things? Sons and daughters are like their parents. So it would only make sence that God would look like we do, not a graven image or even like a spirit essence without a body. Acts 17: 28-29 "For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device."
Some verses with a thought booklet explain the importance of being perfectly united in the same mind and same judgment. There should be no divisions among us, and no contentions about doctrine. We should all teach the same thing. 1 Corinthians 1:10-13 "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it hath been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you. Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?"
