Daily Thoughts Monday

In the Book of Mormon I read some verses that tell how the Lord eased the
burdens ofo the people so they could not feel them upon their backs. He
strenghtened the people so they could bear their burdens with ease.
Sometimes
when we pray for relief from our problems the Lord does not immediately
make
our problems go away, but instead He strenghtens us so we can bear our
burdens with ease. We need to be willing to cheerfuly and with patience
submit
ourselves to the will of the Lord. Mosiah 24:14-15 "And I will also ease
the
burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them
upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye
may
stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that
I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions. And now it came
to
pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made
light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their
burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all
the
will of the Lord."

In the Old Testament I read aout how Jacob recounted his experience of when
the Lord appeared to him in Luz and told him that he would make a multitude
of people and the land would belong to his seed for an everlastig
possession. Genesis 48:1-4 "And it came to pass after these things, that
one told
Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons,
Manasseh and Ephraim. And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph
cometh
unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed. And Jacob
said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of
Canaan,
and blessed me, And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and
multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give
this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to have compassion for each
other, showing forth love. We need to be courteous, sympathetic, and kind
and
we need to refrain from rendering evil for evil, but rather blessing those
who are unkind to us. If we want to enjoy life and see good days, we need
to
refrain our tongues from speaking evil. Notice that these scriptures don't
tell us to be kind to those who are kind to us--they tell us not to insult
those who insult us and return blessing for cursing. Other people are
consistently imperfect! They have flaws and shortcomings. But we are to
be loving
and compassinate with them anyway. Not an easy thing to do, but if we will
trust in the Lord, He will help us. 1 Peter 3:8-10 "Finally, be ye all of
one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful,
be
courteous: Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but
contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should
inherit
a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain
his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:"
