Daily Thoughts Monday

In the Book of Mormon we read that after the angel visited Alma the
Younger, he became a new creature, born again and redeemed by God. He
changed his
whole life, repenting of his sins and rejoicing in his salvation. He then
went about teaching other pepole and preaching the gospel to them. Mosiah
27: 23-32 "And it came to pass after they had fasted and prayed for the
space
of two days and two nights, the limbs of Alma received their strength, and
he stood up and began to speak unto them, bidding them to be of good
comfort:
For, said he, I have repented of my sins, and have been redeemed of the
Lord; behold I am born of the Spirit. And the Lord said unto me: Marvel not
that all mankind, yea, men and women, all nations, kindreds, tongues and
people, must be born again; yea, born of God, changed from their carnal and
fallen
state, to a state of righteousness, being redeemed of God, becoming his
sons and daughters; And thus they become new creatures; and unless they do
this, they can in nowise inherit the kingdom of God. I say unto you, unless
this
be the case, they must be cast off; and this I know, because I was like to
be cast off. Nevertheless, after wading through much tribulation, repenting
nigh unto death, the Lord in mercy hath seen fit to snatch me out of an
everlasting burning, and I am born of God. My soul hath been redeemed from
the
gall of bitterness and bonds of iniquity. I was in the darkest abyss; but
now
I behold the marvelous light of God. My soul was racked with eternal
torment; but I am snatched, and my soul is pained no more. I rejected my
Redeemer,
and denied that which had been spoken of by our fathers; but now that they
may foresee that he will come, and that he remembereth every creature of
his
creating, he will make himself manifest unto all. Yea, every knee shall
bow, and every tongue confess before him. Yea, even at the last day, when
all
men shall stand to be judged of him, then shall they confess that he is
God;
then shall they confess, who live without God in the world, that the
judgment of an everlasting punishment is just upon them; and they shall
quake, and
tremble, and shrink beneath the glance of his all-searching eye. And now it
came to pass that Alma began from this time forward to teach the people,
and
those who were with Alma at the time the angel appeared unto them,
traveling round about through all the land, publishing to all the people
the things
which they had heard and seen, and preaching the word of God in much
tribulation, being greatly persecuted by those who were unbelievers, being
smitten
by many of them."

In the Old Testament we read about how Moses told the Lord that perhaps the
people would not believe that he was sent by Him. So the Lord gave him
signs to show them--making a rod become a serpent, having his hand turn
leporous and then back normal again, and turning water to blood. Exodus
4:1-9
"And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor
hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The Lord hath not appeared unto
thee.
And the Lord said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it
became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. And the Lord said unto
Moses,
Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand,
and
caught it, and it became a rod in his hand: That they may believe that the
Lord God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the
God
of Jacob, hath appeared unto thee. And the Lord said furthermore unto him,
Put now thine hand into thy bosom. And he put his hand into his bosom: and
when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow. And he said, Put
thine hand into thy bosom again. And he put his hand into his bosom again;
and
plucked it out of his bosom, and, behold, it was turned again as his other
flesh. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe thee, neither
hearken to the voice of the first sign, that they will believe the voice of
the
latter sign. And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe also these
two signs, neither hearken unto thy voice, that thou shalt take of the
water of the river, and pour it upon the dry land: and the water which thou
takest out of the river shall become blood upon the dry land."

A verse with a thought booklet reminds us that we need to be vigilant
because the devil is like a roaring lion prowling around, seeking to devour
us!
Satan is committed to derailing God's work. Boy, we need to be constantly
on
our guard, and ask the Lord to help us, to keep that raging lion from
eating us alive! 1 Peter 5:8 "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary
the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:"</HTML>
