Younger, and four of the sons of King Mosiah, were very wicked and sought
to
influence other people to do evil as well. They went about seeking to
destroy the church of God and became a great hinderance to the work of the
Lord.
Can you imagine how their parents must have felt to see their sons so
rebellious and leading lives so contrary to the gospel? Mosiah 27:8-10 "Now
the
sons of Mosiah were numbered among the unbelievers; and also one of the
sons
of Alma was numbered among them, he being called Alma, after his father;
nevertheless, he became a very wicked and an idolatrous man. And he was a
man of
many words, and did speak much flattery to the people; therefore he led
many of the people to do after the manner of his iniquities. And he became
a
great hinderment to the prosperity of the church of God; stealing away the
hearts of the people; causing much dissension among the people; giving a
chance
for the enemy of God to exercise his power over them. And now it came to
pass that while he was going about to destroy the church of God, for he did
go
about secretly with the sons of Mosiah seeking to destroy the church, and
to lead astray the people of the Lord, contrary to the commandments of God,
or even the king— "
In the Old Testament we read that the children of Israel suffered under
bondage and cried to the Lord. He heard their groanings and remembered the
covenants He had made with their fathers. Exodus 2: 23-25 "And it came to
pass
in process of time, that the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel
sighed by reason of the bondage, and they cried, and their cry came up unto
God by reason of the bondage. And God heard their groaning, and God
remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. And God
looked
upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us to humble ourselves before God.
If we do this, He will exalt us in due time And we can cast all our cares
upon Him, for He cares for us. 1 Peter 5:6-7 "Humble yourselves therefore
under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting
all
your care upon him; for he careth for you."</HTML>
