Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon I read that Jesus worked many mighty miracles among men and then was crucified for the sins of the world.  But He gained victoryover death,  being resurrected and providing the way for all of us to beresurrected also.  Mosiah 15:6-8 "And after all this, after working manymighty miracles among the children of men, he shall be led, yea, even asIsaiah said, as a sheep before the shearer is dumb, so he opened not hismouth. Yea, even so he shall be led, crucified, and slain, the flesh becomingsubject even unto death, the will of the Son being swallowed up in the willof the Father. And thus God breaketh the bands of death, having gained thevictory over death; giving the Son power to make intercession for the childrenof men—"

In the Old Testament we read that Jacob covenanted to pay tithing, orto give a tenth to the Lord.  Genesis 28:20-22 "And Jacob vowed a vow, saying,If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and willgive me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father'shouse in peace; then shall the Lord be my God: And this stone, which I haveset for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give meI will surely give the tenth unto thee."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that if we sin against the Lord, we can be sure our sin will be found out.  We can't hide our sins from the Lord!  This reminds me of when I was driving down the canyon and saw a deer at the side of the road.  I pulled over quickly and grabbed my camera but the deer quickly ran up the hill.  However, when the deer got up into some bushes, he stopped in his tracks and peaked back to look at me.  What a funny sight!  While trying to hide from me, his rear end stuck out with his head over it.  He looked like a two legged deer with his head over his rump.  His attempts to hide from me made for a very hilarious sight.  When we try to hide from the Lord or try to hide our sins from the Lord (by blaming others, justifying our sins, rationalizing, making excuses, etc.) we look just as ridiculous as the deer peaking back at me with his rear end and head both showing.  I'll try to attach the picture I took that day so you can think of this silly deer the next time you're tempted to hide your sins from the Lord.  Numbers 32:23 "But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out."
