Daily Thoughts

*Note:  I'll be attending BYU Education Week this week and won't have time to get on the computer in the mornings before leaving, so I'll be sending out my Daily Thoughts the night before.

In the Book of Mormon I read that when we believe in the Lord and His redeeming atonement, and we hearken to the prophets of God, we are heirs of the Kingdom of God and are His seed. Mosiah 15:10-14 "And now I say unto you, who shall declare his generation? Behold, I say unto you, that when his soul has been made an offering for sin he shall see his seed. And now what say ye? And who shall be his seed? Behold I say unto you, that whosoever has heard the words of the prophets, yea, all the holy prophets who have prophesied concerning the coming of the Lord—I say unto you, that all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem his people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins, I say unto you, that these are his seed, or they are the heirs of the kingdom of God. For these are they whose sins he has borne; these are they for whom he has died, to redeem them from their transgressions. And now, are they not his seed? Yea, and are not the prophets, every one that has opened his mouth to prophesy, that has not fallen into transgression, I mean all the holy prophets ever since the world began? I say unto you that they are his seed. And these are they who have published peace, who have brought good tidings of good, who have published salvation; and said unto Zion: Thy God reigneth!"

In the Old Testament I read that Jacob noticed that Laban had turned against him, and the Lord told him to return to the land of his fathers. Jacob explained to his wives (Laban's daughters) that their father had changed his wages ten times, but the Lord had been with him. If his wages were to be cattle that was ringstraked, all the cattle would bear ringstraked young. Even though Laban had tried to deceive him, the Lord had protected him. Genesis 31:1-9 "And he heard the words of Laban's sons, saying, Jacob hath taken away all that was our father's; and of that which was our father's hath he gotten all this glory. And Jacob beheld the countenance of Laban, and, behold, it was not toward him as before. And the Lord said unto Jacob, Return unto the land of thy fathers, and to thy kindred; and I will be with thee. And Jacob sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field unto his flock, And said unto them, I see your father's countenance, that it is not toward me as before; but the God of my father hath been with me. And ye know that with all my power I have served your father. And your father hath deceived me, and changed my wages ten times; but God suffered him not to hurt me. If he said thus, The speckled shall be thy wages; then all the cattle bare speckled: and if he said thus, The ringstraked shall be thy hire; then bare all the cattle ringstraked. Thus God hath taken away the cattle of your father, and given them to me."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us that when we behold the glory of God, the Spirit of the Lord changes us to become more like Him. 2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."
