In the Book of Mormon I read that if we don't hearken to the words of Jesus, nor to those He has sent, He will not receive us at the last day. 3 Nephi 28:34 "And wo be unto him that will not hearken unto the words of Jesus, and also to them whom he hath chosen and sent among them; for whoso receiveth not the words of Jesus and the words of those whom he hath sent receiveth not him; and therefore he will not receive them at the last day;"
In the Old Testament we read that all of Israel kept genealogies, even after they were taken away to Babylon because of their transgressions. 1 Chronicles 9:1 "So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they were written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, who were carried away to Babylon for their transgression."
Some verses with a thought booklet tell us how to deal with people who are unkind to us or treat us badly. We are not to give evil for evil but try to live peaceably with all men, as much as is possible. If we see that our enemy is hungry, we should feed him. If he's thirsty, we should give him something to drink. Instead of letting evil overcome us, we should overcome evil with good. Romans 12:17-21 "Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."
