In the D&C we're told to look unto Christ in every thought, and doubt not and fear not. Indeed, if we truly turn our thoughts to Christ in all things, fear and doubt will be swept away. D&C 6: 36 "Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not."
In the Old Testament we read that the heavens and the earth show the handiwork of God and declare His glory. I've often marveled at the beauties of nature and wondered how anybody can be an atheist. How can anyone see the wondrous creations of God and not realize that they had a creator? It's like if you found a beautiful painting sitting out in the middle of a desert. Would you think that it just appeared by magic, with no one having painted it? Or would you know that somewhere there was an artist who had painted it? The world with all its wonders is a million times more intricate than even the most masterful painting. If we know that there cannot be a painting without an artist, how can we possibly think that there could be a world without a creator? All we have to do is look at this awesome earth and know that there is a God. Psalms 19: 1 "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork."
Sometimes people will do things they know they shouldn't do and then excuse themselves by saying, "The devil made me do it!" Today's scripture from a thought booklet discounts this idea by telling us that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, the devil will flee from us. We can resist any temptation Satan throw at us, if we simply submit ourselves unto the Lord and do our best to resist. James 4:7 "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
