In the D&C we read that instead of seeking for worldly riches, we should seek for wisdom. If we can understand the mysteries of God and obtain eternal life, we rich as to things that really matter.  D&C 6:7 "Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich."

In the Old Testament we read a clear discourse about how the righteous will be blessed and the wicked will perish. We will receive the just reward or punishment for the way we live our lives.  Psalms 1:1-6 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."

Some verses with a thought booklet tell us that God will render unto every man according to his works and will judge us the way we have judged other people.  It's ridiculous to judge another person harshly when we are guilty of the very thing we're accusing them of.  If our hearts are hard and impenitent, we'll risk the wrath of God's judgments against us.  Romans 2:1-5 "Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.  But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?  Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;"
