In the D&C we read that the greatest gift which God can give us is the gift of salvation, which we can receive if we do good and hold out faithful to the end. D&C 6: 13 "If thou wilt do good, yea, and hold out faithful to the end, thou shalt be saved in the kingdom of God, which is the greatest of all the gifts of God; for there is no gift greater than the gift of salvation."
In the Old Testament we read about all the wonderful creations of God and then the question is asked, "What is man that thou art mindful of him?" Even though God created the heavens and the earth, he has crowned us with glory and honor and given us dominion over all the works of His hands. He truly loves us, His children. Psalms 8:3-9 "When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet: All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field; The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!"
A verse with a thought booklet expresses the idea that when we truly love others, we are delighted to share the gospel of God with them, as well as sharing our lives with them. We want to do this with people who are dear to us. When we reach out to others with our love and our friendship, it's natural to also want to share the gospel with them and bring them the joy and happiness that we have found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 2:8 "So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us."
