Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that the world is ripening in iniquity and is in great need of being stirred up unto repentance. If this was true back in 1829 when it was written, imagine how much more true it is today, when wickedness is so much more rampant.  D&C 18:6 "Behold, the world is ripening in iniquity; and it must needs be that the children of men are stirred up unto repentance, both the Gentiles and also the house of Israel."

In the Old Testament we're told that if we regard iniquity in our hearts, the Lord won't hear us, but He will not turn His mercy away from us if we turn to Him in prayer and He will bless us and be attentive to our voices.  Psalms 66:18-20 "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.  Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me."

In some verses with a thought booklet we read that the animals and birds and nature can teach us that the souls of all things are in the hands of the Lord.  It's amazing to enjoy beautiful scenes of nature and the wildlife in it, and realize that God made all creatures great and small, and they're all a part of His plan.  Job 12:7-10 "But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee: Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee. Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the Lord hath wrought this? In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind."
