Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that we should obey the laws of the land and be subject to the leaders of our government, until Christ comes to reign and subdues all enemies under His feet.  D&C 58:21-22 "Let no man break the laws of the land, for he that keepeth the laws of God hath no need to break the laws of the land. Wherefore, be subject to the powers that be, until he reigns whose right it is to reign, and subdues all enemies under his feet."

In the Old Testament we read about the great loving kindness the Lord has towards His children, and the great goodness and mercy He has for us.  When we are afflicted, He is afflicted also because of the love and pity He feels for us.  However, often we rebel, which vexes His Holy Spirit.  Isaiah 63:7-10 "I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the Lord, and the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour. In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them."

A verse with a thought booklet helps us put things into perspective when we're suffering or going through trials in our lives.  Any suffering we might be experiencing at the present time is not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.  Whatever trials we bear are for our own good and if we endure them well, the glory we eventually receive will be well worth it.  Romans 8:18 "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
