Daily Thoughts

In the D&C I read that we shouldn't have to wait to be commanded in all things, but rather do many good things of our own free will and be anxiously engaged in a good cause. We should be agents unto ourselves to seek out opportunities to serve others without waiting around to be asked.  D&C 58:26-28 "For behold, it is not meet that I should command in all things; for he that is compelled in all things, the same is a slothful and not a wise servant; wherefore he receiveth no reward. Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness; For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward."

In the Old Testament we're told that wonderful thigns await those who wait for the Lord.  In fact, nothing we've ever seen or heard can prepare us for the reward that will be ours.  Isaiah 64:4 "For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that we can be forgiven for our transgressions and our sins can be covered by the Lord.  Even though the wicked will have many sorrows, if we trust in the Lord, He will encompass us about with His mercy.  The righteous can be glad in the Lord and shout for joy!  Psalms 32:1-2, 10-11 "Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about. Be glad in the Lord, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart."
