Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that bishops and other church leaders need to be faithful in their stewardships or they'll be condemned and others will take their place. I think this is true of all of us in our callings.  We need to diligently serve in whatever we're called to do.  D&C 64:40 "And even the bishop, who is a judge, and his counselors, if they are not faithful in their stewardships shall be condemned, and others shall be planted in their stead."

In the Old Testament we read that the Lord doesn't want evil for us, but wants to give us peace.  When we call upon Him and pray to Him, He will listen to us.  If we seek Him, we will find Him.  Jeremiah 29:11-13 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."

In some verses with a thought booklet we read the story of the poor widow who donated all the money she had, compared to the rich who gave from their great abundance.  Even though the amount of money given by the rich was much greater than what the widow was able to give, her contribution was more valuable because it was all she had.  Luke 21: 1-4 "And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had."
