Daily Thoughts
In the D&C we read about some of the foods that we should eat--herbs, fruit, grain, and meat to be used sparingly. All these things are to be used with thanksgiving unto God. D&C 89: 10-14 "And again, verily I say unto you, all wholesome herbs God hath ordained for the constitution, nature, and use of man— Every herb in the season thereof, and every fruit in the season thereof; all these to be used with prudence and thanksgiving. Yea, flesh also of beasts and of the fowls of the air, I, the Lord, have ordained for the use of man with thanksgiving; nevertheless they are to be used sparingly; And it is pleasing unto me that they should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine. All grain is ordained for the use of man and of beasts, to be the staff of life, not only for man but for the beasts of the field, and the fowls of heaven, and all wild animals that run or creep on the earth;"
In the Old Testament we read that the glory of God filled the temple. Ezekiel 43:4-5 "And the glory of the Lord came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east. So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house."
Some verses with a thought booklet are rather familiar. Joshua tells the people that they have a choice to make and they need to choose this day. Will they serve the false gods of the Amorites or the true and living God? Joshua declares that as for he and his house, they will serve the Lord! We likewise have a similar choice to make. Will we serve to choose the false gods of our day--wealth, power, possessions, fashion, recreation? Or will we choose to serve the Lord our God? It is our choice to make. Joshua 24:15 "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
