Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read the great promises given to those who keep the Word of Wisdom and obey the Lord in things He has commanded us to eat and to refrain from eating.  We'll receive health in our navel and marrow to our bones, and we'll run and not be weary and walk and not faint. The destroying angel shall pass us by and not slay us.  But aside from the physical blessings of obeying the Lord's law of health, we'll additionally be given wisdom and great treasures of knowledge.  D&C 89:18-21 "And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones; And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures; And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint. And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen."

In the Old Testament we read that the glory of the Lord filled the House of the Lord, the temple.  The Lord instructed that no strangers or uncircumcised in heart should enter into His sanctuary.  Ezekiel 44:4-9 "Then brought he me the way of the north gate before the house: and I looked, and, behold, the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord: and I fell upon my face.  And the Lord said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the Lord, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.  And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; O ye house of Israel, let it suffice you of all your abominations,  In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.  And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my sanctuary for yourselves. Thus saith the Lord God; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel."

Some verses with a thought booklet reiterate the great mercy and forgiveness of the Lord.  No matter what we've done in the past, if we will seek the Lord with all our heart and soul, and we will be obedient to His voice, He will not forsake us. We can turn to Him even in all our tribulations.  Deuteronomy 4:29-31 "But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;  (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them."
