Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we read that we should search diligently, pray always, be believing, walk uprightly, and keep our covenants.  If we do this, all things will work together for our good.  D&C 90:24 "Search diligently, pray always, and be believing, and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly and remember the covenant wherewith ye have covenanted one with another."

In the Old Testament we read that the sanctified priests of the sons of Zadok had kept the charge of the Lord and had not gone astray when the other children of Israel and Levites had gone astray.  The Lord makes note of people who stay true to Him, even when those around them are not obeying Him.  Ezekiel 48:11 "It shall be for the priests that are sanctified of the sons of Zadok; which have kept my charge, which went not astray when the children of Israel went astray, as the Levites went astray."

Some verses with a thought booklet we're told to not to walk in step with the wicked nor hearken unto sinners and scornful people.  We often become like the companions we choose.  Instead, we need to delight in the commandments of God and meditate upon His law day and night.  What we choose to think about determines, in large measure, the kind of person we become. Those who trust in the Lord and delight in His law are like trees planted by streams that don't run dry.  Their leaves stay green and they bear the fruits of righteousness.   Psalms 1:1-3 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper."
