Daily Thoughts

In the D&C we're told to cease contending with each other and speaking evil of others.  D&C 136:23 "Cease to contend one with another; cease to speak evil one of another."

In the New Testament we read that if a homeowner had known wha hour a thief would come and break in, he would have watched and been prepared for him.  But just like a thief comes when he's not expected, so will Christ come at an hour when we don't expect Him.  So we need to be prepared at all times. Those who are ready for His coming and are watching for Him, will be blessed.  Luke 12:37-40 "Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.  And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants. And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered his house to be broken through.  Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not."

A verse with a thought booklet tells us to always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks us to give the reason for the hope that we have. When we have the light of the gospel in our lives, it brings us joy and hope that we want to share with others.  There are two ways of sharing the gospel.  One way is to tell other people what they should be doing.  Often people get defensive when told what they need to improve in their lives and many people resent being told what to do.  The other way of sharing the gospel is by simply saying, "Here's what helped me." By sharing our own personal experiences and telling people what the gospel has done in our lives, people are usually less threatened.  If we talk about answers to prayer, how God has strengthened us during difficult times, or how the Lord has performed miracles in our lives, we give people a reason for our faith.  Do you have a story you can share?  1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
