Daily Thoughts

In the Pearl of Great Price we read that God spoke with Moses face to face, as one man talks to another, and showed unto him the entire earth and all its inhabitants.  Moses 1:27-31 "And it came to pass, as the voice was still speaking, Moses cast his eyes and beheld the earth, yea, even all of it; and there was not a particle of it which he did not behold, discerning it by the Spirit of God. And he beheld also the inhabitants thereof, and there was not a soul which he beheld not; and he discerned them by the Spirit of God; and their numbers were great, even numberless as the sand upon the sea shore.  And he beheld many lands; and each land was called earth, and there were inhabitants on the face thereof. And it came to pass that Moses called upon God, saying: Tell me, I pray thee, why these things are so, and by what thou madest them? And behold, the glory of the Lord was upon Moses, so that Moses stood in the presence of God, and talked with him face to face. And the Lord God said unto Moses: For mine own purpose have I made these things. Here is wisdom and it remaineth in me."

In the New Testament we read that if we believe in Jesus Christ we'll have everlasting life, but if we don't have faith in the Son, we'll suffer the wrath of God.  John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night and bring sudden destruction to those who are unprepared.  But to those who hearken to the Lord, that day will not overtake them.  They are children of light and of the day and there is no darkness in them.  No one would want to drive a car at night with no headlights.  No one would choose to stumble around in a dark basement if they could turn on a light.  So why would anyone choose to go through life in darkness when by turning to the Lord, they can receive all the Light they need to guide them on paths of safety.  1 Thessalonians 5:2-5 "For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness."
