Daily Thoughts
In the D&C we read that we must be tried in all things so we'll be prepared to receive the glory that the Lord has prepared for us. If we're not willing to bear chastisement we're not worthy of the kingdom. D&C 136:31 " My people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them, even the glory of Zion; and he that will not bear chastisement is not worthy of my kingdom."
In the New Testament we read a verse that tells us that if someone is faithful in a small things, he will also be faithful in something of great importance. Likewise, someone who is unfaithful in something small cannot be trusted in larger matters either. This is why it's important to avoid "little white lies" and why if we receive even a few cents too much change in the store, it's important to return it. Even in small things, we show the true nature of our character. Luke 16:10 "He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."
Some verses with a thought booklet describe how the light of the gospel shines on Christ's followers. The gospel is not hidden to any honest seeker, but Satan desires to blind the minds of men so they won't believe. The gospel is only hidden to those who are lost but those who have received the gospel try to preach it to those who will listen, telling them the truths of the gospel in an honest and forthright manner. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6 "Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
