Daily Thoughts
In the D&C we read that the Spirit will enlighten the humble and contrite but condemn the ungodly. D&C 136:33 "For my Spirit is sent forth into the world to enlighten the humble and contrite, and to the condemnation of the ungodly."
In the New Testament we read about how Jesus healed ten lepers but only one of them returned to thank Him and give glory to God. Are we sometimes like the nine who showed ingratitude for the many blessings the Lord has given us? Do we pray for things we want but then neglect to the thank the Lord for what He gives us? Luke 17:11-19 "And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole."
In some verses with a thought booklet we read that the Kingdom of God is like a small grain of mustard seed which starts out very tiny but grows large branches that the birds of the air can lodge in. Great things can grow from small beginnings if they're nurtured. Mark 4:30-32 "And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it."
