Daily Thoughts
In the P of GP we read that Abraham's fathers had turned from their righteousness to the worshiping of idols and they refused to listen to Abraham or keep the commandments because their hearts were set on evil. Abraham 1:5-6 " My fathers, having turned from their righteousness, and from the holy commandments which the Lord their God had given unto them, unto the worshiping of the gods of the heathen, utterly refused to hearken to my voice; For their hearts were set to do evil, and were wholly turned to the god of Elkenah, and the god of Libnah, and the god of Mahmackrah, and the god of Korash, and the god of Pharaoh, king of Egypt;"
In the New Testament we read that we need to practice what we preach. If we're going to teach others not to steal or to commit adultery, we need to make sure we're not guilty of those things ourselves. We need to teach not only by our words, but by our actions and our example. It's not enough to say, "Do as I say, not as I do" We need to live our lives in accordance with what we teach others. Romans 2:20-23 " An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?"
A verse with a thought booklet gives us the key to finding peace in our lives--we need to keep our minds steadfastly on the Lord and put our trust in Him. If we're feeling a lack of peace in our lives, we need to take our eyes off our troubles and the worrisome situations in our lives and focus on our Savior, placing our trust in Him. Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
