In the P of GP we read about how Jesus foretold the events that would precede His second coming. Wickedness would abound and the followers of Christ would be persecuted. False prophets would arise and deceive many. However, those we remain steadfast and are not overcome will be saved. Joseph Smith Matthew 1:5-11 "And Jesus answered, and said unto them: Take heed that no man deceive you; For many shall come in my name, saying—I am Christ—and shall deceive many; Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated of all nations, for my name's sake; And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another; And many false prophets shall arise, and shall deceive many; And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold; But he that remaineth steadfast and is not overcome, the same shall be saved."
In the New Testament God is described as the God of all comfort and the Father of mercies. He comforts us in all our tribulations so that we'll be able to comfort others in their troubles. Sometimes when we're going through something difficult, it really helps to talk to someone else who has been through the same thing and know that they understand. This may be the reason we need to go through certain trials in our lives, so that we can give understanding comfort to others in the future who might be suffering through the same things we have gone through. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 "Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that if we seek God with all our hearts, we will find Him. Jeremiah 29:13 "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."
