In Articles of Faith 7 we read that we believe in the gifts of the spirit that existed back in Jesus' day, such as prophecy, revelation, healing, and the gift of tongues. Miracles have not ceased in our day! Articles f Faith 7 "We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth."
In the New Testament we read that Jesus overcame death. He was dead, but is alive again and will be alive forevermore. He has the keys of death and hell. What a great comfort this is to know that just as Jesus died but is alive again, so will our loved ones who have died live again. We, too, will someday die, but that will not be the end of us. The dead will rise and live again forever. Revelation 1:18 "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."
Some scriptures with a thought booklet give a message from Paul to the saints at Ephesus (or anywhere, really) and to the faithful in Jesus Christ. He sends a message of grace and peace from Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I heard about a woman who tried to read her scriptures every day, but often rushed through so she could check her emails, wondering if she'd hear from her children or a friend, or maybe it would just be spam. Then one day she came upon these verses and a voice inside her head said, "You've got mail." She realized she was getting an important message from God by reading her scriptures--more important than the messages she'd get in her emails. Let's study the scriptures every day and see what message God has for us. If we'll place reading our scriptures and checking for messages from God as a higher priority in our life than checking for email messages, we'll find rich blessings in store for us. Ephesians 1:1-2 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ."
