In Articles of Faith 10 we read about the gathering of Israel and the establishment of the New Jerusalem on the American Continent. Christ will reign personally upon the earth and the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. These are wonderful events to look forward to, and they will happen! Articles of Faith 10 "We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory."
In the New Testament we read John's vision in which men were killed by fire, smoke, and brimstone, and the men who were not killed refused to repent of their murders, sorceries, fornication, thefts, and worship of devils. It amazes me that people who had witnessed people being killed would still stubbornly refuse to repent of their sins. Revelation 9:18-21 "By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt. And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts."
Some verses with a thought booklet go along with this, telling how the Lord will punish people with fury according to their deeds. However, He will redeem those who reverence His name and are willing to turn from their transgressions and covenant with Him. To these people the Lord's word and His Spirit will not depart from them, henceforth and forever. Isaiah 59:18-21 "According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him. And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord. As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the Lord; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth and for ever."
