Daily Thoughts

In Articles of Faith 11 we read that we have the right to freedom of religion and also likewise believe that everyone has that same right, let them worship how, where or what they may. We need to respect other people's beliefs.  Articles of Faith 11 "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may."

In the New Testament we read that the dead will be judged.  The wicked will have the wrath of God come upon them and will be destroyed, but the prophets and saints and those who reverenced the Lord will receive their reward.  Revelation 11:18 "And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth."

Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that the righteous will be blessed, but the ungodly will perish.  We're advised not to take advice from sinners, nor have scornful people for our companions, but rather we should take delight in the law of the Lord and meditate upon it day and night.  The righteous are likened to a tree firmly planted by a river that brings forth good fruit; while the ungodly are like chaff that the winds blow away. What about us?  Are our roots planted firmly and deeply enough in God's Word so that when the storms of life come, we don't topple over? Or is our faith so shallow that the slightest breeze will blow us away?  Psalms 1:1-6 "Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.  For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish."
