In the Book of Mormon we read that Nephi beheld the Gentiles bringing the Bible to the seed of his brethren, and then other books coming forth which would convince them of the truth of the Bible and teach them about the plain and precious parts which had been taken away. They would learn that they must come unto Christ to be saved. He will minister unto all the nations of the earth. 1 Nephi 13: 38-42 "And it came to pass that I beheld the remnant of the seed of my brethren, and also the book of the Lamb of God, which had proceeded forth from the mouth of the Jew, that it came forth from the Gentiles unto the remnant of the seed of my brethren. And after it had come forth unto them I beheld other books, which came forth by the power of the Lamb, from the Gentiles unto them, unto the convincing of the Gentiles and the remnant of the seed of my brethren, and also the Jews who were scattered upon all the face of the earth, that the records of the prophets and of the twelve apostles of the Lamb are true. And the angel spake unto me, saying: These last records, which thou hast seen among the Gentiles, shall establish the truth of the first, which are of the twelve apostles of the Lamb, and shall make known the plain and precious things which have been taken away from them; and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved. And they must come according to the words which shall be established by the mouth of the Lamb; and the words of the Lamb shall be made known in the records of thy seed, as well as in the records of the twelve apostles of the Lamb; wherefore they both shall be established in one; for there is one God and one Shepherd over all the earth. And the time cometh that he shall manifest himself unto all nations, both unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles; and after he has manifested himself unto the Jews and also unto the Gentiles, then he shall manifest himself unto the Gentiles and also unto the Jews, and the last shall be first, and the first shall be last."
In the Old Testament we read another example of how quick people can be to forget the Lord, even after all He's done for them. While Moses was up on the mount, the people thought he delayed coming back so they took off their golden earrings and melted them down to make a golden calf to worship, saying it was the god who had brought them out of Egypt. How foolish can people be? Exodus 32:1-6 "And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me. And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the Lord. And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play."
In some verses with a thought booklet we read that the Lord knew and foreordained Jeremiah to be a prophet even before he was born or conceived. Jeremiah felt inadequate, saying he was just a child, but the Lord assured him that he would be able to go forth and do all He would send Him to do and everything He commanded him. The Lord told Jeremiah not to be afraid because He would be with him and that he would be able to speak the words that the Lord put into his mouth. We learn a lot from these scriptures. We learn that the Lord knew us, understood us, and foreordained us to the callings we'll have in this life. And we learn that He will help us be able to do whatever He calls us to do, even when we feel like we don't have the capabilities to do them We also learn that the words the prophets speak are from God, so it's very important that we listen and obey. Jeremiah 1:4-9 "Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child. But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth."
