In the Book of Mormon we read that the Savior came into the world to save all men if they wold hearken unto His voice. He suffered for all. He commanded all men to repent and be baptized in His name. But if they refuse, or don't endure to the end, they must be damned. 2 Nephi 9:21-24 "And he cometh into the world that he may save all men if they will hearken unto his voice; for behold, he suffereth the pains of all men, yea, the pains of every living creature, both men, women, and children, who belong to the family of Adam. And he suffereth this that the resurrection might pass upon all men, that all might stand before him at the great and judgment day. And he commandeth all men that they must repent, and be baptized in his name, having perfect faith in the Holy One of Israel, or they cannot be saved in the kingdom of God. And if they will not repent and believe in his name, and be baptized in his name, and endure to the end, they must be damned; for the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has spoken it."
In the Old Testament we read that when Joshua was old he called everyone together to speak to them. He reminded them of what the Lord had done for them and the battles He had fought for them. Joshua 23:2-3 "And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age: And ye have seen all that the Lord your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the Lord your God is he that hath fought for you."
A verse with a thought booklet reminds us that God is well pleased when we sacrifice to do good in our actions and words. We must never forget to reach out to others in need or serve them in any way we can. And it's not enough to merely offer condolences, we need to do what we can to reach out to hurting people with a helping hand and caring heart. Hebrews 13:16 "But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased."
