Daily Thoughts

In the Book of Mormon we read that all laws given have punishments attached if they are disobeyed. But the atonement satisfies the demands of justice and can restore us to the God who gave us breath. But woe unto those of us who waste the days of our probation by transgressing the laws of God. 2 Nephi 9:25-27 "Wherefore, he has given a law; and where there is no law given there is no punishment; and where there is no punishment there is no condemnation; and where there is no condemnation the mercies of the Holy One of Israel have claim upon them, because of the atonement; for they are delivered by the power of him.  For the atonement satisfieth the demands of his justice upon all those who have not the law given to them, that they are delivered from that awful monster, death and hell, and the devil, and the lake of fire and brimstone, which is endless torment; and they are restored to that God who gave them breath, which is the Holy One of Israel.  But wo unto him that has the law given, yea, that has all the commandments of God, like unto us, and that transgresseth them, and that wasteth the days of his probation, for awful is his state!"

In the Old Testament we read Joshua's exhortations unto the children of Israel that they should be of good courage and hearken to the commandments of the Lord. They should not serve other gods, but cleave unto the Lord and love Him.  Joshua 23:6-8, 11 "Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;  That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:  But cleave unto the Lord your God, as ye have done unto this day. Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the Lord your God."

A verse with a thought booklet promises us that God will not forget our work and labor of love which we show by ministering to others. Even if we sometimes feel that our service to others is not appreciated by them or they take us for granted, we can know that everything we do to love and serve others is noticed and remembered by God. Hebrews 6:10 "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
