A verse in the Book of Mormon is one that needs to be taken to heart as to the seriousness of telling lies. It's an easy verse to memorize and repeat to yourself when you're tempted to fudge on the truth. 2 Nephi 9:34 "Wo unto the liar, for he shall be thrust down to hell."
In the Old Testament we read that the Lord avenged Israel when the people willingly offered themselves. Judges 5:2 "Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves."
And speaking about willing offerings, a verse with a thought booklet tells us about how the children of Israel brought willing offerings to the Lord. The Lord is pleased with the willing sacrifices we make. An 80 year old woman discontinued her lawn service and mowed her own lawn, plus disconnected her cable television so she would have more money to contribute to her church. How willing are we to make sacrifices for the Lord? Exodus 35:29 "The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses."
