In the Book of Mormon we read that Nephi said that the word of Isaiah are difficult to understand, something which I personally have found to be true! He says they're hard to understand because we don't know concerning the manner of prophesying among the Jew. 2 Nephi 25:1 " Now I, Nephi, do speak somewhat concerning the words which I have written, which have been spoken by the mouth of Isaiah. For behold, Isaiah spake many things which were hard for many of my people to understand; for they know not concerning the manner of prophesying among the Jews."
In the Old Testament we read about how Absalom stole the hearts of the people away from King David. 2 Samuel 15:2-6 "And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel. And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee. Absalom said moreover, Oh that I were made judge in the land, that every man which hath any suit or cause might come unto me, and I would do him justice! And it was so, that when any man came nigh to him to do him obeisance, he put forth his hand, and took him, and kissed him. And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel."
Some scriptures with a thought booklet tell us that the Lord will make firm the steps of those who delight in Him. They may stumble, but He will not allow them to fall. His mighty hand will uphold them. What a comfort this is! Psalms 37-23-24 "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand."
