In the Book of Mormon we read that the children were grieved because of the poor examples set by their parents, who would be held accountable if their children were brought to destruction. Jacob 3:10-11 "Wherefore, ye shall remember your children, how that ye have grieved their hearts because of the example that ye have set before them; and also, remember that ye may, because of your filthiness, bring your children unto destruction, and their sins be heaped upon your heads at the last day. O my brethren, hearken unto my words; arouse the faculties of your souls; shake yourselves that ye may awake from the slumber of death; and loose yourselves from the pains of hell that ye may not become angels to the devil, to be cast into that lake of fire and brimstone which is the second death."
In the Old Testament we read David's explanation of why Uzza was slain by the Lord for trying to steady the ark. Only the Levites are authorized to carry the ark of God and minister unto Him. So the Levites sanctified themselves to perform this task, and they bore it on their shoulders with staves, as Moses had commanded, according to the word of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 15:1-2, 14-15 "And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent. Then David said, None ought to carry the ark of God but the Levites: for them hath the Lord chosen to carry the ark of God, and to minister unto him for ever. So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the Lord God of Israel. And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon, as Moses commanded according to the word of the Lord."
A verse with a thought booklet tells us that God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son so we could have eternal life if we believe. We can personalize this scripture by putting our own name in there. " God so loved ______ (fill in the blank with your name) that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that if ______ (fill in the blank with your name) would believe in Him, he/she would not perish but have everlasting life." In actuality, God loved YOU so much that if you were the only person in the world to be saved, He still would have sent His Son to die for your sins. Just you. You are not just a number among the billions to God. You are beloved son or daughter, a cherished child, and are of infinite worth to your Heavenly Father. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
